Judging from my own experience, job hunting has been an exercise in...patience. You know...sitting alone, in the dark, pondering one's fate, finding (and maybe losing) religion, reading book after book after book etc. etc. Here are some tricks that I've found can help you through those dark, lonely, nights:
* Try not to get to Existential i.e., in the words of someone much wiser than me "Don't think too much."
* Drugs, alchohol, etc. are really only effective in the short term (but may involve serious long term disadvantages).
* In the words of Quigon Jinn; "Your focus determines your reality". Persevere.
In any case, since I've found work in the (ahem) academe that more or less is close to what I do (Light)...I thought I'd share a bit of literature:
"The dark is generous, and it is patient, and it always wins - but in the heart of its strength lies weakness: one lone candle is enough to hold it back.
Love is more than a candle.
Love can ignite the stars."
- Matthew Stover, from the last page in the novel "Revenge of the Sith"
Reading is good.
May the force be with you.
